About this zone

Roundhouse is Alpine’s frontside workhorse: a short, fast lap straight from the base that covers a lot of what most strong skiers want on a normal day. You’ve got a mix of blue groomers for quick mileage, small tree bands to duck into when you want a little texture, and a few steeper fall-lines that tend to bump up as the day goes on. It’s the kind of zone you end up cycling through all day because it’s efficient and always has a line worth taking.

Best When

This zone is at its best when you want quick, no-fuss laps from the base and a reliable place to ski when the rest of the mountain is slow to open. It’s also a go-to in stormy weather since it often spins during active snowfall and can sometimes be the only lift running, which makes it a practical option for keeping the day moving.

Watch Out For

Base access cuts both ways, so expect lift lines and crowded runouts, especially when weather or closures funnel everyone here. When the snow goes firm, the steeper options like The Face, Waterfall, and Sympathy Face stop being playful and start feeling consequential, with less room for error on hardpack and in bumped-up sections.
