About this zone

Sherwood is classic Alpine backside skiing with a simple, lap-friendly feel. It’s a go-to zone for intermediates who want long, uninterrupted runs and room to cruise without a lot of technical distractions. When it’s on, it’s the kind of terrain you can settle into and rack up vertical fast.

Best When

Right after a storm, before the sun has had time to work the surface, is the money window. It also skis well in spring when you’re chasing predictable soften-up cycles and want consistent snow that comes around early, especially if you’re aiming for smoother, longer runs rather than steep, technical lines.

Watch Out For

Timing matters here. Show up too early and you can end up on crust; linger too long and you’ll be in heavy slush. Keep an eye on where you’re traversing, too, since pushing too far skier’s right can land you in a flat exit that turns into a long slog, especially on a snowboard.
