Advanced Skier Itinerary
Heavenly
Ski the best advanced terrain, take in the views, and explore the mountain at Heavenly.
Start: California Base
Park on the CA side. The shuttle from Ski Run Blvd is usually fine if you end up there, but parking at the base is obviously easier.
Head straight up toward Sky Express. If there’s fresh snow, this is where you want to start — the terrain around Sky has a ton of room to roam, with enough rolling features to keep it interesting. Some pockets get dense, so don’t dive blind. If you’re not warmed up or not fully initiated on the terrain, stay closer to the lift line before branching out.
Get a few laps in while the crowds are still moving around the mountain. This is the window where Sky actually skis well.
Mid-Morning: Mott + Killebrew
As the Sky line starts to stack (it always does), start pushing over toward Mott Canyon and Killebrew.
If you want to ski Killebrew, do it on the way in — it’s more annoying to reach once you’re already in Mott. Killebrew is a notch tougher and usually less trafficked.
Once you’re in Mott, you’ve got options. Different aspects, a mix of trail and off-trail lines, some glades, and usually a healthy dose of moguls. North-facing lines are the obvious call if you’re chasing snow quality. Take a few laps until you feel like you’ve had your fill.
Midday Reset: Nevada Side Cruisers
When you want a breather (or your quads need a break from Mott bumps), head toward the Nevada side — Dipper, Comet, Tamarack. These are easy cruisers with good views, but they get busy. Stay aware, stay in control, and don’t get lulled into skiing fast through crowds.
This is your reset block before diving back into anything serious.
Afternoon Return: Flow Back to California
Work your way back toward CA as the day winds down.
You can dip into Tamarack Woods to avoid crowds and keep things interesting — even when coverage is thin, it’s often worth the detour. Powderbowl Glades are another fun option on the way out if you want something playful without committing to anything big.
Optional detour: the Groove terrain park. Small, quick hits, nothing serious, just a good way to spice up the day if you’re feeling it.
Finish: Gunbarrel
End the day with Gunbarrel. Classic Heavenly finish, but make sure your legs are actually ready. It’s a great final push, but skiing it exhausted is… not recommended. There are side glades you can poke into if you don’t want a full uninterrupted mogul beatdown.
Wrap it up here and call it a day.
