Powderbowl
Heavenly

About this zone
Powderbowl is a mid-mountain, densely treed zone on the California side that skis like a pocket of shelter when the rest of the hill feels exposed. With a mostly northwest-facing tilt and plenty of tight lines between the trees, it holds snow well and rewards advanced skiers who like to work off-piste terrain rather than just lap groomers.
Best When
This zone is at its best right after colder storms with lower snow levels, when the mid-elevation snow stays light and the trees keep it protected. It’s also a smart place to duck into when other areas are busy, since the tighter, more technical feel naturally spreads people out and keeps the skiing more consistent.
Watch Out For
The trees are dense and the under-snow hazards are real, especially early season or when coverage is thin, so keep your line choice conservative if you’re not sure what’s buried. Sightlines can be tight, and tracked snow can set up quickly in the shade. If you’re using groomed exits back toward the main flow, expect traffic to build late in the day as people funnel home.
