Stagecoach
Heavenly

About this zone
Stagecoach is a Nevada-side base area that skis like a quiet but important crossroads. Sitting lower on the mountain around 7,400 feet, it’s mostly north and northeast facing, with lots of trees and a mix of friendly groomers and legit off-piste options. The terrain leans intermediate overall, but there’s enough advanced tree skiing to keep strong skiers engaged, especially in the woods off runs like Sage-Covered. It’s not flashy, but it’s functional and efficient, with easy access to multiple parts of the mountain.
Best When
This zone shines as a starting point if you’re coming from Nevada or want to beat the California-side morning rush. The northerly aspects and tree cover help preserve snow, making it a solid option after storms or on colder midwinter days. It’s also a good launch pad for moving around the mountain, with straightforward connections toward Galaxy, North Bowl via Pepi’s, and the Comet/Dipper Express, so it works well if your plan involves covering ground rather than lapping one lift.
Watch Out For
Being lower elevation, conditions here can degrade faster during warm spells or late in the season, especially on groomed runs. Tree skiing can feel tight in poor visibility, and traffic funnels through this area since it’s a major transit hub. Expect variable snow and occasional crowding near the base and key connectors, particularly later in the morning.
