Tamarack Woods
Heavenly

About this zone
Tamarack Woods is the advanced tree line you duck into when you’re moving from the Nevada side toward California and don’t feel like fighting the main track. It’s high-elevation skiing with enough spacing to stay playful, and it works well as an “escape hatch” when the standard route over is getting crowded.
Best When
Best when you want cover in the trees during wind or flat light, or when you’re aiming to catch a bit of later-day sun without committing to the busy transfer run. It’s also a solid choice for strong skiers looking for a more interesting way to migrate between sides while keeping the pace moving.
Watch Out For
Tree wells, hidden stumps and rocks. sun‑crust and sticky slush on W/SW aspects during mid‑day or spring thaw. The long run under the gondola (Firebreak) is out‑of‑bounds—requires backcountry gear, avalanche training and a rescue plan.
