Devil's Corral
Kirkwood

About this zone
Devil’s Corral is Kirkwood’s raw, no-nonsense steep zone tucked directly under the Cirque. It’s short, technical, and unapologetically expert-only, with tight chutes and fall-line skiing that rewards precision more than flow. The terrain feels serious despite the compact vertical, and the Cirque looming overhead gives the whole zone a big-mountain feel. Access is indirect and a bit awkward, which keeps it from ever feeling casual or crowded.
Best When
This zone shines on cold, stable days when the snow is supportive and you’re in the mood for steep, technical turns rather than long laps. North-facing and well sheltered by the Cirque, it holds chalk and packed powder well after storms. It’s best as a deliberate stop on a day focused on expert terrain, not something you stumble into mid-lap.
Watch Out For
These are real double-black lines with no margin for error. The chutes are short but consequential, with firm snow, exposed rock, and mandatory steep entries if conditions aren’t right. Access requires commitment and awareness of where you’re dropping in, and once you’re down there, getting back for another run takes effort. If you’re not fully confident in tight, technical terrain, this isn’t the place to find your bearings.
