Northwest Territory
Northstar

About this zone
East‑facing mid‑elevation terrain home to Zephyr Lodge. Expect long, rolling intermediate runs and groomed cruisers punctuated by treed benches and a few short steeper pitches. Ridgetops get wind‑scoured while lower stands and sheltered gullies often keep softer snow—good, predictable skiing for confident intermediates who like a mix of open turns and tree play.
Best When
This is a strong early-day zone when the east-facing terrain starts to warm and you want cruisy laps that come into shape quickly. After storms, the sheltered trees and gullies can hold soft snow longer than the exposed ridgelines, making it a good place to hunt for leftover pockets once the obvious lines are tracked. It also works well when you want straightforward, confidence-building skiing without committing to sustained steeps.
Watch Out For
Wind can strip the ridgetops down to firm or variable snow, and the short steeper pitches can feel slick when they refreeze. In the trees, there are a few hidden rollovers and occasional cliffs, so keep your speed in check and ski with enough visibility to react. Early season, thinner cover in exposed spots and around tree wells can add consequences if you wander off the main lines.
