North Bowl
Palisades Tahoe

About this zone
North Bowl is a steep, wide bowl with a smooth, clean fall line that rewards one committed, fast carve more than it does long, varied pitches. The standard approach is to exit left onto the ridge cat track, contour under the chair, and drop in from the lip. The upper slope tends to soften later in the day, which can make the skiing feel less grabby and more predictable.
Best When
Best right after a cold, low-density Pacific storm when it’s holding light snow. If it’s firm, it often skis better after some warming, since it’s fairly protected from the sun and can stay stubbornly hard until temperatures rise or traffic works it in.
Watch Out For
Very short, steep pitch leaves little recovery room—overspeed is the main risk. Lip and upper apron can be wind-scoured or crusty; rocks and hard runout often lurk unsuspectingly.
